Why Buying Custom Rugs is a Good Choice

February 10th, 2010

Custom rugs can make the rooms in your home look different than others. They are different because they can be made to fit they way you want them to look. You can also get the right colors and the customized details that you want.

With custom rugs, you can get the size that you need for the rooms in your home. You may live in a home where the regular carpet makes it look dull and uninviting. You want nice size rugs that will complement the size of the rooms.

There are different kinds of fabrics that are used for custom rugs. Having the right fabric can prevent you from dealing with allergies. For instance, having rugs using natural fibers may be better for you than synthetic material. You want to enjoy the decor without having to constantly sneeze every time you get close to the rugs.

The texture for custom rugs is an important feature. You want your rugs to look good, especially when others see them in your home. In order for them to be presentable, the dye should match with the texture of the fabric.

With custom rugs, it will be easier for you to match the colors to the rooms in your home. The colors of the rugs and the walls can match just right. If you need a lighter or darker color, you will be able to do that as well. It’s definitely a chore when you can’t find the right colors to match or at least blend in with each other.

You can find custom rugs in different shapes such as rectangles and ovals. Having rugs in a different shape can make them unique. You don’t have to be like everyone else when it comes to choosing the shape of a rug.

There are some people who like pattern styles. Custom rugs offer many different kinds of patterns to suit your taste. Since there is an increased interest, more rug retailers are offering more pattern styles for people to choose from.

The easiest way to find the rugs that will blend in with your home is to go online. There are rug retailers on the internet who have a wide array of styles and colors to choose from. The best thing about this is you don’t have to leave your home to get what you want.

Right PAD does not harm your Carpet Denver wooden floors

February 8th, 2010

It is a proven fact that a rug pad prolongs the life of your rug, adds comfort and sound absorbtion as well as safety for non slip reasons. Now, we must consider the right rug pad that does not harm our wood, or other hard surface, floors.

For room size rugs that don’t tend to slide, I like a nice quality dense jute pad. Today’s jute pads are not rough and do not shred like the old days. There is a great pad available that is made using recycled material such as nylon and wool fiber from Carpet Denver scraps. This jute pad is made with a needle punched process to create a dense, yet comfortable pad that does not shed, smell and is mold and mildew resistant.

Jute pads come in various weights. They start at 20 ounce and go up to 40 ounce. The best pad for all rugs is the 40 ounce jute pad. Due to its weight, it is dense enough to protect your rugs and your floors yet soft enough to feel comfortable. A spongy type pad, much of what is used under wall to wall Carpet Denvering, is not desired under area rugs. The spongy pads allow penetration from the surface of your rug to the floor underneath, hence causing possible indentations to your floors as well as a lack of a soild foundation to the back of your rugs, where they need the protection.

In the world of rubber, or non slip, pads, there are many choices that resemeble each other. This type of pad is made from a dense needle punched jute surface and a rubber, or rubber like, backing. Here is where we need to be careful. It is important to choose a pad in this category that contains a solid rubber back. Many of these pads have a sprayed on latex backing. This sprayed latex will provide a non slip effect for a while yet it can be a short while before damage occurs. The fact that the latex is sprayed on means that there is not a strong enough hold between the latex and the jute surface. This is why we hear about “rubber” rug pads that tend to break down or stick to hard floor surfaces. I like the non slip pad that contains this jute surface and a solid layer of rubber which is sewn on to the jute. Because this is an independent solid layer of real rubber, it will last longer, provide better non slip functions and will not harm your floors.

Your area rugs are an investment and the safety of your family means everything. Don’t skimp when it comes to the right rug pad. Make a qualilty choice and you won’t have to worry about your rug pads for years to come.

How to Protect Hardwood Floors with a Rug Pad

February 7th, 2010

Adding an area rug to your hardwood and wood floors adds decor and protection to your floors. Although this is a great way to protect your investment, you must add a rug pad under each rug to acheive the best protection for hardwood floors.

When you walk on a rug, the stress from walking pushes the rug fibers against your floor. This in turn makes the back of your rug rub against the floor underneath. Many area rugs have a rough backing and this backing can scratch your floors. When you add a rug pad under your rug, any stress and pressure going through the rug is intercepted by the rug pad.

Now, what type fo rug pad should you choose for the best protection for your hardwood floors? Well, since there are lots of choices available, let’s look at the best rug pads for the best hardwood floor protection.

If you need a rug pad that also prevents sliding, then you have two best choices in rug pads. If your rug or your area does not demand a thicker rug pad, then you can choose a non slip organic polymer rug pad. This rug pad is 1/8 of an inch thick and does not stick to hardwood floors. It contains natural oils to prevent any damage to your floors. This rug pad also truly prevents rugs from sliding while adding an extra layer of protection for your hardwood floors.

Another rug pad used for non slip purposes that has more substance than the one mentioned above is a rug pad that is composed of recycled jute along with a natural layer of rubber underneath. This rug pad is 1/4 of an inch thick and is used for non slip purposes as well as when furniture plays a role. Since it is a bit thicker than the organic polymer pad and very dense, it not only prevents scratches on your floors, it also prevents furniture from causing indentations to hardwood floors.

Finally, the best rug pad to use to protect hardwood and wood floors is a recycled jute rug pad. This rug pad is only best used when sliding is not an issue, like with most room size rugs. This rug pad is made of 100% recycled material and is harmless to all types of wood floors. It is about 1/2 of an inch thick and is a very dense 40 ounce weight. This means that this rug pad will resist scratches and indentations to your hardwood floors as well as add an extra level of comfort and sound insulation, if needed.

All of these quality pads are meant to last and protect hardwood floors for about 15 to 20 years before needing to be replaced. This is a small price to pay for the protection offered for all hardwood floors, not to mention the protection they offer to your rugs as well.
