Barbecue Grills | How Everyone Should Keep Their Outdoor Grills Clean

April 2nd, 2010

Summer will be here before you know it and that means it is time for backyard barbecue grilling and lots of fun times with friends and family. There’s nothing quite like the great taste of a dinner that has been cooked on a barbecue grill.

Similar to a household stove, a barbecue grill requires certain maintenance and cleaning steps to ensure that it stays clean and in new condition. We are going to cover the steps that it takes to clean a barbecue grill after you have enjoyed some delicious barbecues.

The first thing you should do is read the owner’s manual that came with your grill when you bought it. Depending upon the type of barbecue cooking grill you own, there might be some particular do’s and donts that you should know.

For example, some barbecue grills come with a warranty. You want to be sure that you will not be doing anything to damage the grill in the event that it would void the warranty.

If your grill doesn’t have specific instructions on how to clean it, then you can follow these general guidelines to cleaning a barbecue grill. First, you should invest in a good grill brush, preferably one that is made with brass bristles. Use this brush on the grill grate to work loose any stuck-on food.

Once you have loosened up the food particles, rinse them off of the grill with hot water. If the food is stuck on, you can add some grease-fighting dish soap to the hot water to help loosen it. You can also try using your hose to rinse the debris away since water from the hose is under pressure and that might help loosen the particles further.

Another tip for removing stubborn food buildup is to burn off the particles so they can be removed more easily. To do this, place aluminum foil over the grate and turn of the grill. This traps heat around the gate that will loosen the food particles. Once the grill has cooled down, remove the foil and rinse the loosened particles off with water.

Remember that the grate will be the easiest to clean right after you have finished grilling your food. This works on the same principal as the burn off method, the heat keeps the food loose. Just wait for the grate to cool off enough so you can handle it and then scrub it with hot soapy water.

It is also helpful to spray your metal grate with the same non-stick cooking spray that you would use in the kitchen. It will make clean-up go much faster. Cleaning a barbecue grill can be a tedious task. But, a clean grill is much more sanitary and will make your grilling experience much easier. If you keep the above steps in mind, you will be cleaning less and grilling in no time at all.

Test Out One Of The Following Interesting Pizza Slices

March 8th, 2010

Living in New York is a great thing, especially since I have easy access to what so many people say is the greatest pizza in the entire world. Just about every commercial neighborhood has a pizzeria every two or three blocks.

Having said that, I have gotten the opportunity to sample such a huge range of styles and slices. Based on that fact, I know about all the unique kinds that there are, so now I will tell you about some of them.

It doesn’t matter if you would like to find a place near you that has these available or if you just want to make them for your family; you will be very appreciative of these kinds of pizza when being creative with the preparation of food is something that interests you.

A really good kind of pizza to try is mac and cheese. I highly suggest that you try it if you haven’t yet. It might not sound like the norm, but, trust me, it is so tasty. It is even better when the slice comes with the macaroni on the top breaded.

Another very popular slice at anyone of the city’s top pizzerias is a spinach artichoke variety. This is like your typical spinach style slice, but it has artichokes and a creamy blend of cheese throughout. Many call it the best they’ve ever had.

Finally, you have got to try a buffalo chicken pizza if you are like me and really like buffalo chicken. It is a hot crust with the chicken on top and I know you are going to find it to be super good.

You can put some blue cheese onto the slice or have a separate dip to enhance the flavor of it. You will see that it is really good with the crust.

I sure hope that you can get some inspiration from one or all of these kinds of pizza. I personally love all of them and perhaps you will as well.

Enjoyable Ideas For Sweet Dishes

March 8th, 2010

There is an art to dessert making, and if you get it exactly right, it will be that course that you remember most about a meal. Forget the Cheese and biscuits; a delicious dessert really finishes of a meal in style.

There are a great variety of desserts to enjoy, and whether you prefer hot and cold, you will always have a great choice. You may have guessed by now that I love my desserts, these are some that I’ve sampled recently.

Some of these you will instantly recognize, others you may not. The great thing about a dessert is that you can give them your own personal twist, so why not get online for the basic recipes and have a shot at making them?

One of my all time favorites which will always have a place on my dessert resume is the classic mousse made from white chocolate. Those to tend to stick to a traditional chocolate mousse are more often than not pleasantly surprised when they try this version.

If you like a bit of fruit in your desserts; add some drizzle to the mousse, in a flavor with a bit of a kick like raspberry. The sharpness of the fruit is a great contrast to the chocolate.

The humble drinking glass is a great container to serve an elaborate dessert in. The ingredients are simplicity itself, so there are no worries that it won’t taste good. This means you can spend more time on what it looks like.

You really have no boundaries with this kind of dessert. You can keep it simple but classy looking, or really go to town to create a magnificent sundae which will never fail to impress.

This final one really shows off your artistic flair. Cut a mango so it looks like a rose and fill it with ice cream, simple yet stunning. There are many instructional videos online to show you how easy it is.

Fruit with sorbet or ice cream is always a favorite, and this tasty take on that is simply delicious. Whether using Vanilla or another stronger flavor, this dessert will taste as good as it looks.

A Very Valuable Cooking Tip

March 4th, 2010

Why does cooking create such a mess? Seriously, whatever we do and however hard we try, when we have finished creating our masterpiece the kitchen always looks like a bomb has hit it.

In the past, life was so much easier. There were servants and kitchen staff who took care of all the preparation, cooking and cleaning up. How great would that be now? No cleaning and tidying afterward, just enjoying the meal and not having to worry about the rest.

Even if you couldn’t afford the luxury of servants, you were probably so poor that your diet was very limited, thus leaving very little tidying up to do afterwards.

Those energy saving devices that we all have in our kitchens; mixers, blenders etc add to this problem even more. These all need to be carefully cleaned too as well as all the pots and pans that are stacked by the sink.

Kitchen mess is embarrassing; we don’t like others to see how untidy we are. If you are lucky enough to afford servants then it isn’t an issue, but the majority of us can’t, so it is.

I’ve tried various things over the years, mostly unsuccessfully. The one I’m going to tell you about now however seems to have made life an awful lot easier, so why not give it a try yourself.

As you finish using each piece of equipment, wash it. This means that everything is getting washed quickly as you go and there is no build up which will take a lot longer to wash and put away. Adopt this method next time you are in the kitchen

So in future, no more stacking up dirty dishes and leaving them until the end. Facing a pile of dirty pots and pans can be soul destroying, so make life easy for yourself and clean as you go. Now when you’ve finished whatever you have made, you can sit down and relax, not be stuck at the kitchen sink for a good hour.
