Love The Space You’re In

July 29th, 2010

Urban living is both a joy and convenience to many. One gets to be at the hub of commercial establishments, offices, transportation systems, and more. Life gets to be so modern and fast-paced that every resource needs to be maximized. The same principle applies to small living spaces such as condos, apartments, and studio units.

Limited floor area doesn’t translate to cramped and boring. The opposites are actually the real deal. There is also comfort, style and function. The best part of all this? I don’t have to spend a gazillion to make my home more appealing. With a small space, I get to save more on decorations and furniture. Now how great is that!

Plan ahead. Before you set forth buying furniture for your apartment or condo, consider the size factor. Even though a piece looks good or has a good price, it may not be worth the trouble if it only makes your room look stuffier and more cramped. Usually, to make a room more spacious, you need to choose lighter-colored pieces or furnishings of lightweight materials.

Create the illusion of space. Even an area rug can help maximize your unit! You can fool the eyes and make the space roomier by placing the area rug at an angle, instead of making the edges parallel to the walls. You can make small windows appear larger by using longer curtains. This also makes the ceiling appear higher.

Colors help a lot too in creating an illusion of space. Say no to dark colors and welcome light colors with open arms. Light hues are not in any way boring. Mixing and matching light colors is also a good way to add vibrancy to a room. There are so many to choose from like pale yellow, ecru, pale blue, pastels and stucco. Check the color scheme for more ideas.

Take advantage of storage. Please! Don’t clutter! The more you mess around (literally) the more your home will look smaller. The tidier your living space is, the bigger it will appear. There are built-in shelves and cabinets so you won’t have to buy extra drawers and chests. There are also dual-purpose furnishings that can really save some floor space.

Coordinate the colors and decorations. You don’t want your apartment to look like a warehouse or a garage sale. A small home can still look elegant with the right decors.

As you can see, having a small living space doesn’t mean having fewer design options. Get creative! Check out books, magazines, websites, and home stores for great inspiration and more space-saving techniques. You can find more smart ideas on how you can maximize the space in your area, without having to spend a fortune. In no time at all, your tiny unit can be transformed into your own stylish, functional, and relaxing haven, and with lots of room to spare.

Changing Moods In Your Room By Adding Wall Decor

July 29th, 2010

An easy way to change one’s home decor is to incorporate or change wall decor. With so many choices in wall decor, it is effortless to implement. Some options include wrought iron or framed art. It is an effortless way to change the mood of a room.

Wrought iron wall decor is elegant and beautiful and full of intricate designs. The scrolls, swirls and leaves are elaborate. Also, it reflects cohesion of traditional designs and modern styles. The cost of these items varies and is dependent upon three factors: complexity of the design, the quality of wrought iron used and the type of welding performed.

Wrought iron can be added to the decor very easily. You should be able to incorporate the work into any kind of decor you may already have placed in the room. With a blank wall in the room, simply add some nice looking design made of wrought iron and you will have an extra feature for discussion in your room. Or you can add some plaques that have been made from wrought iron with some kind of inspirational phrase on it. Another great idea is to add in some wrought iron into the bedroom by getting a headboard made from it.

Framed art is another way to transform a room by changing a wall’s decor. It is important to consider what kind of mood is trying to be achieved: cozy, warm, formal, casual, etc. This will determine which direction in artwork to explore. Also, consider the furnishings and accessories already in the room. Framed art need to compliment the existing surroundings because it is cost-effective. The space should be evaluated for light and space. Is the room small and dark or is the room sunlight and spacious? Once the room has been assessed, it is time to shop!

Once you have figured out what kind of color you need the art to fit into it’s time to figure what would look best. In a room that is very bright you may want to tone down the mood with a darker bit of art work. Make sure that you choose some art that incorporates your taste, or has a special meaning to you. This is a great way to bring your own personality into the decor of the room.

The mats for framed art are a crucial component because they help to compliment the room’s tone. Silk mats work well in formal settings. Double mats can capitalize on an accent color. The accent colored mat is positioned under the lighter mat. Only a small amount (about 1/4″ inch) of the accent colored mat is visible.

Area rugs are always a great idea when you go to change the mood of your room, or just to add to it. If you have added some wrought iron you can add a burst of color with a nice area rug that has some great color and a nice design to it. Also you can coordinate these area rugs with any art work you may have added into the room.

Who Says You Can’t Exploit Rose Red Nursery Bedding Sets In Your Child’s Room?

July 29th, 2010

In this day and age, the days of using pink for a daughter and blue for a son are over when decorating the baby’s nursery. You’re in charge when deciding which colors to decorate with, whether it’s persimmon, purple, or both.

A single color can be a motif all by itself, if you select different tones that contrast one another. Most young boys prefer the color red, as it is the color of fire engines and race cars.

Red can be used as a spark of color in toys, wall decor, or a non-skid rug on which your infant may one day enjoy crawling. Red baby bedding adds an impressive touch to a child’s bedroom ensemble. The center of an exciting nursery is red plaid crib bedding. You are not limited to a single-color scheme; you can also combine a solid color with vivid similarly hued prints, and, just your luck, there are coordinated bedding packages which offer just the items with which you can do that.

The bedding sets being sold today are an easy way to be your own decorator beautifully and affordably. That’s because the color red is connected to imagery that’s dynamic and action oriented, ranging from tiny scarlet tugboats to big cherry-hued Ferris wheels, any of which would be quite suitable for your little one’s cowboy crib bedding. Be sure to check labels when purchasing baby’s crib sheets and accessories. The proper fit is important in keeping baby safe.

Concerning the safety of crib accessories, a crib mobile can be quite entertaining for an infant but will need to be taken away when the baby can grab it; a bumper pad may be used if it is not too plush and is tied securely to the crib but will need to be removed when the baby is able to climb on it. Remember that your little boy won’t even be able to focus on the details of his environment for some months, but you’ll notice things on the many visits you’ll be making daily.

Crib bedding naturally cannot be comprised of soft cushions or puffy comforters, because these just should not be in the crib or tot bed of a little one. It’s important that you like the decor you choose, so feel free to add red accessories to your child’s room. When you see a happy mom, chances are you will also see a happy baby.

French Rooster Decor: Think Outside The Kitchen!

July 29th, 2010

French rooster decor happens to be just one of the fastest expanding kitchen design trends in the past few years. Its level of popularity is primarily based on the extensive color choices and uncomplicated integration into any kitchen. Have you been searching for the simplest way to use this widely used fad into your home without making your kitchen into a barnyard? There are many ways to add rooster decorations into your home without even stepping entering the kitchen.

Interior designs utilizing rooster accessories are structured on the French country style. This style uses a huge range of color pallets and has a welcoming and informal aura. It is a combination of old world beauty and traditional allure. This makes it a wonderful choice if you happen to be in dated property and wanting to give it a more elegant look or if you have a new house and wanting to get far away from the coldness of modern interior designs.

Using Color in French Country: The colors in French country rooms can be anything from brilliant red hues, startling hues of black, sun-drenched yellows, earthy hues of green, to vintage blue hues. The material used are traditional in nature, normally with toile accents in quilts, ornamental pillows, and curtains. Rugs are widely-used to add color to natural flooring of wood or stone.

Furniture for French Country: The furniture used in French country designs is traditional in nature. Distinctive wood furnishings with matte sheens or antiqued finishes are very effective with this theme, turning it into a budget friendly style and design as it is possible to reuse items that have been abandoned and accumulating dust in the garage.

French Country Decor: The accessories put to use in French country spaces are primarily based in nature materials such as baskets and urns of blooms or the well liked French country rooster dcor. These accents are frequent through the room and used in ranging sizes. Including vibrant framed prints of roosters, bookends in a rooster motif, and perhaps a couple of rooster collectible figurines will add an instant French country touch to any home.

You have now learned the essentials of this design and style, you can see how easy it can be to include French Rooster Decor to a space rather than the kitchen. Let your decorating juices flow and give people something to “crow” about when they come to your home.

Be Sure Your Centerpieces Match Your Marriage Theme

July 28th, 2010

Marriage is a dear moment of life. On the occasion of a marriage, family and friends get together and experience the wonderful event. Everyone who is marrying tries to offer their buddies and relatives an ambiance that is serene and majestic. The job of generating the colourful atmosphere is done largely by your wedding centerpieces. So a wedding centerpiece plays a crucial role in a marriage event.

There are various things that you have to bear in mind whenever you settle on the best wedding centerpieces. The very first thing which you have to keep under consideration is that the marriage centerpiece should be selected according to the color, theme, and venue that you have selected for the event. If you’re come to a decision to have a fashionable night wedding then select wedding centerpieces that compliment the nighttime theme. Make sure that the decoration of the room matches with the sunset, as nobody wants to have a decoration of orange and green and then have wedding centerpieces whose primary colours are black and white. Make sure that the location you have chosen for the event hasn’t got any kind of limitation on the type of centerpieces you may use. If there’s any sort of limitation then keep these in mind while choosing the wedding centerpieces.

One of the essential things which you have to keep in mind is the size and shape of the wedding table. If you select smaller tables for the event then you need to avoid using roomy wedding centerpieces as they will act as a barrier to the guests as they try to talk to each other across the table. Likewise if you choose large tables for the event then it is necessary to plan for a wedding centerpiece that will occupy the center proportionally. Fortunately most popular centerpieces are made in different sizes so you can find the right size to fit your tables.

Last but not least, another decision you will need to make before you purchase centerpieces is whether you want to do the same one for each wedding table or you want to have two or three dissimilar arrangements spread out across the wedding reception hall. The entire process is very easy and can be breathtaking if you select the right type of centerpieces and ensure that they go together beautifully. I would strongly recommend searching the internet and seeing how various reception halls have been decorated and the types of centerpieces that were used.

After you have decided what centerpieces you’re going to use, you can then think about how you’ll work your color palette into their design and also what kind of decorations you’ll be using. As an example, you might need to use candles, sand, flowers, food, for example. The majority of these decorations come in numerous colors even the sand so you can ensure that the centerpieces match the color palette of the locale.

Marriage centerpieces are one of the most vital components of the marriage reception. They essentially set the tone of the room. They also reflect the tastes and personality of the wedded couple. Ensure that when select your centerpieces that they show your visitors part of you and your fiance and are not the choice of some other person.
